  • This is How Sundays are Meant to Be!

A heartfelt thank-you note from a dear parishioner.

Thank you and your whole team. It was absolutely a wonderful time!

I had not planned to attend this event, as my Sundays are usually quite busy. But earlier in the day, my daughter called and said, “Mom, if you want to go, I have extra tickets,” because a couple of her kiddos were busy.

I kept looking at all I was “supposed” to do, and then the Holy Spirit just gave me the most gentle nudge to come.

I am so grateful for eachand every moment I was there.
The Mass was phenomenal, looking up as Fr. raised Jesus in the Eucharist with the backdrop of the blue skiesand green trees and peaceful pond.

I reflected as my day ended; I kept hearing, “this is how Sundays are meant to be.”Seeing dads with their sons teaching them their fishing skills, daughters and moms playing cornhole, the laughter and silliness of the little ones, jumping in the “bouncy house,” running free in safety, going on hay rides, baseball games… food galore, beautiful music, and the gracious and welcoming smiles of everyone involved!

We couldn’t have said it better! The Family Fundraiser benefiting Fr. Paul’s mission was truly magical!
Not just for the fun, but for something rare: no cell phones in sight! Just families, friends, and even strangers fully present to one another, sharing and enjoying the beautiful day that God gave us.

A big thank you to everyone who came, donated, volunteered, and supported this event, especially the Friends of Fr. Paul and our sponsors! We are one step closer to this dream becoming a reality.

  • WE ARE BREAKING GROUND!
This dream is becoming a REALITY!

A “dream team” of local professionals in Ghana is now in place to oversee the construction of the youth center, and we are thrilled to report that:

    • The drawings are complete.

    • The current budget has been presented.

    • The project has been broken down into phases for construction.

    • A Starlink has been acquired for the project, to enable regular communication.

Now we are ready to begin Phase 1, and we need your continued support through prayer and fundraising to create a safe, faith-rooted environment where young people can learn, grow, and develop life and employable skills for a sustainable future.

How will we raise this money?
We will rely on the generosity and big hearts of Father Paul’s friends!

  • We hosted the PITTSBURGH DIOCESAN 2025 MISSION APPEAL at Divine Redeemer Parish!

During the weekend of November 15th, at all Masses at St. Mary and St. James, we heard about Fr. Paul’s dream: The 412 Hope Youth Center, a much-needed space that will serve as a safe, faith-based learning and recreation hub for children and young adults in Fr. Paul’s village of Sekondi Takoradi, Ghana. Designed to nurture education, faith, and livelihoods, the center will empower over 500 youth each year to pursue meaningful futures.

Fr. Emmanuel Conduah, a close friend of Fr. Paul, shared the needs of the community in Sekondi Takoradi and how we can help make this dream a reality.

There was a second collection to fund this effort. You may also donate online.

Empowering the Youth in Ghana: Our Mission with Father Paul

As we continue our journey to support Father Paul's dream of creating a safe space for the youth in his village—where they can build community, learn, and grow in their faith with Jesus—we’ve come to realize the profound challenges faced by communities in Ghana. From our vantage point of comfort and opportunity, it’s hard to imagine the daily struggles these young people endure. Yet, their determination to break the cycle of poverty is truly inspiring.

Many young individuals are reaching out, eager to pursue education and personal development, but they need our financial support to make it possible. Below, we highlight some of these stories.

    Our Progress So Far

We are incredibly grateful for the meaningful partnership we’ve established with DTCare, an organization owned and operated by parishioner Tim Gruelle and his family. Their expertise in navigating donations to developing countries, like Ghana, has been invaluable in ensuring that our contributions are securely delivered to New Takoradi.

Thanks to the continued generosity of our DR family, we’ve made significant strides:

    • Over $22,000 has been successfully transferred to New Takoradi to support this mission.

    • Last year, we sent $7,310 in donations to provide Christmas gifts for the youth, although logistical delays meant the gifts arrived in time for Easter. These gifts included clothing, school supplies, and essential learning tools like sewing machines and computers. You can see the joy in their faces.

There are two accounts managed by Father Paul and his team. One account is for donations to support the Youth Center, and the other is for donations to assist individual youth in New Takoradi, Ghana, Father Paul’s home village, ensuring that every contribution is used wisely.

Looking Ahead: Sponsoring a Brighter Future

We are excited to extend our support even further by sponsoring individual youth in New Takoradi who are in dire financial need for their education or personal development. Father Paul is creating a separate account to manage funds specifically for these individuals, aside from the future youth center’s budget.

As for the youth center itself, Father Paul is collaborating with his local team to finalize plans and determine the next steps, including the remaining funds needed to break ground. We eagerly await updates as this life-changing project moves forward.

I’m unable to insert images directly. Please provide the image or describe what you need, and I can assist you accordingly.

Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being a vital part of this mission!
